The GEMS (Generating Excellence in Math and Science) program is committed to providing a supportive and inclusive environment where students can explore their interests and promote academic perseverance.
Whether you are interested in robotics, coding, biology, physics, or any other STEM field, our program is here to support you. The college experience is full of gems that motivate students to develop their personal, academic, and professional potential. The GEMS program uncovers this potential through the following:
- Academic resources: GEMS newsletters help first-year students identify the resources essential to STEM students on campus. GEMS staff work in a 1-on-1 setting to assist you in finding the correct tutor and establishing a study schedule.
- Extracurricular activities: We offer an annual extracurricular activity, such as a visit to The Georgia Aquarium, Zoo Atlanta, or Atlanta Botanical Gardens. Students experience real-life applications of their STEM curriculum while connecting with peers with similar interests.
- Diversity: Agnes Scott College is a diverse community that brings together people from different backgrounds, cultures, and perspectives. Holding space for diversity in STEM education and experiences cultivates empathy, open-mindedness, and a broader understanding of the world for GEMS scholars.
- Professional connections: We promote campus opportunities for students to network with professionals in their fields of interest through internships, job fairs, and alumni connections.
